Congress seeks Ranjit Dutta's ouster

GUWAHATI, March 30: Opposition leader Debabrata Saikia as well as Congress party on Thursday sought State Education minister Ranjit Dutta’s ouster following the arrest of state irrigation department secretary Kujendra Doley.
Doley was caught red-handed by a team of vigilance and anti-corruption officials from his office chamber at Dispur while accepting Rs 15,000 from a contractor for clearing his pending bills.
During searches conducted at his office and residence, vigilance sleuths seized Rs 54.45 lakh in cash, six bank passbooks and other investment documents.
Opposition leader Saikia in a press conference here today said that they have demanded the resigtion of Dutta as the Irrigation minister since his me also cropped up now in the bribery incident.   
“How a top official can dare to accept bribe at Dispur, a high security zone with the support from minister. So we demanded his resigtion ill the investigation,” Saikia said.
He said that BJP earlier leveled various corruption charges against Congress, but now even at Jata Bhawan top official has been arrested while accepting bribe.
Regarding the Lower Subansiri Project, Saikia said, “It was said that a tri-party talks will be held after eight-member expert panel submit its report but no such meeting has been organized till today.
