DC asks departments  to glow streetlights  and traffic sigls

GUWAHATI, Sept 16: Kamrup (M) Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu has asked Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC), PWD (Electrical) and the APCDL to repair and renovate all streetlights and traffic sigls in Guwahati that do not glow, by September 23, 2017.

The DC had a meeting with the top officials of the departments concerned at the State Circuit House on Saturday. At the meeting the DC formed as many as six groups for activating the defective streetlights – each group comprising a magistrate, a sub-divisiol engineer from GMC, engineers from the APDCL and PWD (electrical) and officials of the Assam Police. The groups took charge this evening and started to inspect streetlights in the city.

The DC also asked the PWD (electrical) to inspect all the high-mast lights that have been installed in as many as 39 points in the city and reactivate if any of them is not working. He asked GMC and APDCL to reactivate the non-functioning traffic sigl lights in the city. He asked them to reactivate the defective streetlights from Khapara-Jalukbari-Airport.

The Deputy Commissioner asked the Forest Department to clean the riverside from Bharalumukh to Raj Bhawan and cut branches of trees that stick out unnecessarily risking public life. He asked department to submit their action-taken reports to the Guwahati Development Department Minister before September 23, 2017.
