Demand for separate Muslim varsity in Assam

GUWAHATI, Feb 13: The Muslim Students’ Union of Assam (MSUA) has raised, among other things, the demand for the setting up of a Muslim university in Assam. Talking to newsmen in the city today, MSUA general secretary Md. Ashwik Rabbani said: “The previous Congress Government treated the Muslims of the State with a step motherly attitude, and the present BJP-led government in the State has also sidelined us. We demand that the problem of D voters in the State should be solved before NRC update. The large number of people belonging to the minority community evicted at various places in the State should be rehabilitated soon. There are incidents of harassment to Indians in the me of detection of foreigners in the State. This practice should be stopped without any further delay. Our other demands include proper use of funds meant for the development of minorities in the State.”
