Dengue alarming in city!

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Nov 15: Dengue cases have been rising at an alarming rate in Guwahati with the report of 3,853 cases in Kamrup (M) district till November 14. This is apart from the death of four persons, which is four time dengue toll during the corresponding period last year.

Though dengue was alarming in 2013 with 4,121 cases and two deaths, it was brought under control in 2014 – with 41 cases and no death. It also rose in 2015 with 933 cases and one death in Kamrup(M) area.

The spurt in dengue cases in the metropolitan areas is not surprising as the district administration has not been taking adequate measures like fogging. The fewer number of fogging machines in the city has also added to the worst situation. Monitoring of condition that leads to dengue is also not regular in the city. This apart, lack of proper awareness on dengue also leads to more incidents of dengue in the city.
