Dispur committed to inclusive growth: CM

GUWAHATI, Dec 18: The Assam Government is committed to inclusive and equal growth of all communities in the State. The Christians being a minority community should not be worried and feel insecure. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal said this while attending a pre-Christmas celebration in the city on Saturday.

The Chief Minister further said that religion teaches people to show respect, faith and compassion to all animate and inimate beings. It is through service above self and commitment towards society that positive change can stimulate life. It is the religion of humanity that all must propagate to build a happy and peaceful world, Sonowal said.

Underlining the importance of positive values and the need to cultivate them for human peace and progress, the Chief Minister commented that positive change can happen only through harmony and not through conflict. He further urged the gathering to rise above self and work for humanity.

The pre-Christmas celebration organized by the Minority Morcha of the Bharatiya Jata Party was also attended by State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Water Resources Minister Keshav Mahanta, Rajyasabha MP Biswajeet Daimary, MLA Dr. Nomal Momim, several ecclesiastical heads and representatives of 45 Churches of Guwahati city.
