DNP steps in to translate CM?s dream into reality

GUWAHATI, April 3: Now DNP Ltd has stepped in to make the assurance of Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal to make cooking gas available in every household in the State from NRL a reality. This has been a dream project of the Chief Minister.
BJP leaders Rupam Goswami and Ashwini Pait took charge as the chairman and vice chairman respectively of DNP Ltd today.
DNP Ltd was registered on June 15, 2007 with its operatiol headquarters at AGCL, Duliajan. Later on Oil India Limited joined hands for an equity participation in the project. Now the equity stands at AGCL (51%), NRL(26%) and OIL(23%).
Assam Gas Company conceived the project of transportation of tural gas from Duliajan to Numaligarh for NRL way back in 2004. OIL and NRL signed an agreement for gas supply from Madhuban at Duliajan to NRL on March 17, 2005 and a gas transportation agreement was signed between AGCL and NRL on June 27, 2005. Subsequently, NRL offered to pick up a 40 per cent equity stake in the project and a new company, DNP Ltd with equity participation by AGCL (60%) and NRL(40%), was formed.
Soon after taking charge Goswami said: “My emphasis will be on translating Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal’s dream of supplying cooking gas to every household in the State into a reality. To make that happen, I’m going to hold a discussion with all stakeholders soon. The company already has a plan in its phase 1 to transport cooking gas from NRL to every household in Guwahati. However, the Chief Minister wants to make cooking gas available in every household in the State, and as such plan has to be expanded to cover the rest of the State.”
On Compressed tural Gas (CNG), Goswami said: “Making Assam free from pollution was a poll promise of the BJP. It’s time to keep that promise. The need of CNG is badly felt in Assam. Bringing CNG to Assam will be another goal of this company. To double the revenue of DNP is also a thrust area for me. We’re going to draw a scheme to make that happen.”
The chairman and the vice chairman took part in the board meeting of the company held today.
