Doley elated as GPs, ZPs bring laurels to State

GUWAHATI, April 28: The State Panchayat and Rural Development (P&RD) Department is elated, so is minister ba Kumar Doley as the panchayats  in the State have bagged five tiol awards conferred on them on the tiol Panchayati Raj Day.

The tiol Panchayati Raj Day was centrally observed in Lucknow in UP. The awards were given away by Union Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Drinking Water and Sanitation Minister rendra Singh Tomer. While the Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar med after Pandit Dindayal Upadhyay was received by Dhemaji Zila Parishad, Dimoria Anchalik Panchayat under Kamrup(M) District, Dhemaji Anchalik Panchayat, Ejarbari Gaon Panchayat in Morigaon district and Sopur Gaon Panchayat in Kamrup (M); the Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar med after ji Deshmukh was received by Ajarbari Gaon Panchayat.

While each of the Panchayat Sashaktikaran Puraskar carries a citation, besides Rs 15 lakh, the Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Puraskar carries a citation and Rs 10 lakh.

Besides congratulating the panchayats and zila parishads for the laurels they brought to the State, Doley appealed to them to render their duty more sincerely. He said that awards and rewards only make people to be more responsible. “The award-winning panchayats and zila parishads will have to work harder and set examples before others,” Doley said.
