GUWAHATI, August 8: The felling of the statue of renowned educationist Don Bosco at Bharulumukh in Guwahati in the wee hours on August 7 took a new twist with the Bharalumukh police today arresting the Council of Ward No. 8, Sunita Bhilwadia, her husband Anis Bhilwadia, Raju Roy and Raju Prasad Gupta. They were produced before the court that sent them to 14-day judicial remand. Their bail plea was rejected.

The State administration was working on a war footing for the installation of the statue at Bharalumukh. The work started on August 6, and security personnel were also deployed so as to prevent anything unwanted from happening. However, in the wee hours yesterday, a section of people came to the spot all of a sudden and pushed the statue to the Brahmaputra. The police on duty said that the incident occurred all of a sudden when people in large number were on the road for early morning jogging.
