GUWAHATI, DEC 5: The Assam Government has decided to provide free textbooks to the students of Class IX and X in from academic year 2017-18. The essence and core of the scheme is that the free textbooks should reach the students by 25 December, 2016 as the classes of new sessions in Assam starts in Assam from January 1 of every year. The target group of the scheme is all the students studying in class IX and X irrespective of income of parents. The Scheme will cover all government/provicialized high schools and higher secondary schools, all tea garden, local body schools, all model schools under RMSA, Assam and all non-provincialized schools who are getting fincial incentives at any point of time.
