Gang of women arrested

GUWAHATI, Sept 19: The police today arrested a nine-member gang of women from a lodge at Boripara in the Maligaon area, and seized various substances from them.

According to sources, the gang that entered Guwahati from West Bengal is suspected to have hatched a plan to loot people in the city during the festive season. The seeds of ‘bandarkekura, a seed that causes itching in the body when its contents are thrown on anybody, substances that cause people to be senseless when applied etc., from their possession have led the police to be suspicious on their design. Some watches, orments and cash were also seized from them.
