GNRC opens a fleet of 100 ambulances

GUWAHATI, June 12: A free ambulance service with a fleet of 100 ambulances was iugurated today by Guwahati Neurological Research Centre (GNRC) in various parts of the state. The iuguration was held on Dispur GNRC Hospital premises.

GNRC MD Nomal Chandra Bora said: "The fleet of 100 ambulances are to provide basic life support instantly after receiving a call for an ambulance, and will have a paramedic trained safe medical evacuation after boarding on the ambulance. The ambulances are provided with GPS installed system, through which the ambulance staff would be connected with 24-hour emergency service of GNRC Hospital. The ambulances are also well equipped with the modern medical machines to start prelimiry medical service to the patient."

Borah also said: "Everyday, 20,000 people of the state need medical services. GNRC would try to help some of those needy of the state in the districts like Kamrup, gaon, Morigaon, Sonitpur, Darrang, Mangaldai and the suburban areas near Guwahati. The patients can use the toll free number 1800-345-0011 to avail the ambulance service and the 24x7 emergency response centre will ensure every call to be answered. Live audio and video facilities is also planned to consult GNRC emergency doctors. The ambulances would include basic life support (BLS) and advanced life support (ALS) to the patients."
