GUWAHATI, Oct 20: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Tuesday appealed to everybody to ignore all differences and work together to check all evil and commul forces which posed serious threats on the secular structure of the country.
In a statement here on Tuesday, Gogoi stated that in today's society intolerance has grown manifold and it has come to such a pass that the unity and integrity of the tion is at stake.
Gogoi said: "The 5,000-year Indian civilization has always put diversity, pluralism and religious tolerance on the top. However, the sequel of events taking place at the moment has disturbed Indian culture, traditions and customs".
“The President’s timely intervention twice within a short span of time to douse the flames of commul tension indicates the severity of the situation,” Gogoi added. President Prab Mukherjee’s clear-cut message to the Government of India is an unequivocal reflection that the BJP-led NDA Government, instead of checking intolerance, is spreading hate campaign which has vitiated the social fabric and commul harmony of the country, Gogoi said.
