GUWAHATI, Jan 8: RSS’ plan to make its chief Mohan Bhagawat address the Luitporiya Hindu Samabesh slated for January 21 in Guwahati has pepped its cadres up in Assam to make the rally a success. The grand Hindu rally is set to pull a crowed as strong as 75,000, including 31,000 in RSS uniform.
The Sangh has been working overtime for the past two years to make the Hindu rally in Guwahati a success. Assam and other States in the Northeast have all along been beyond the good grip of the Sangh that wants to break fresh ground in the region.
Talking to newsmen in Guwahati on Monday, RSS’ Uttar Asom Pranth Sanghachalak Dr. Bhupesh Chandra Sarma said: “This is the first grand congregation of the Sangh in the Northeast. Around 31,000 RSS cadres in uniform from 4,000 villages/cities of Uttar Assam Pranth comprising the Brahmaputra Valley, galand and Meghalaya are to take active part in the rally. The 31,000 RSS cadres are going to exhibit their martial or defensive skill, besides singing a theme chorus of the congregation.”
Sarma said: “Top RSS leaders like Sunil Deshpande, Krish Gopal and others are going to take part in the rally, besides prominent religious heads from Assam like the Xatradhikars of various Xatras in the State, around 50 Hindu religious mentors, 20 tribal chieftains, and others. Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal, his Cabinet colleagues, MLAs, around 2,000 special guests from Guwahati city and leaders of various political parties and organizations will also be invited to the congregation.”
On the schedule of the congregation, Sarma said: “The Hindu Samabesh will be on January 21 at Khapara playground, to be followed by an organizatiol meeting to be concluded on on January 22 at Moniram Dewan Trade Centre with our chief Mohan Bhatgawat. The meeting at Khapara is to get started at 2 pm and conclude at 3.45 pm. Bhawagatji is going to deliver an hour-long lecture. There will be a meeting of RSS karyakartas at the meeting venue where Sanghachalaks are to remain present. The organizatiol meeting will be held at the Trade Centre from 6.30 pm of January 21 to 4 pm of January 22. Around 1,000 non-resident RSS karyalartas, among others, are going to take part at the organizatiol meeting.”
The karyakarta meeting is a tiol-level meeting of the RSS that is held every year at different places. This time around, Maniram Dewan Trade Centre in Guwahati has been chosen as the venue for the meeting, and the Luitporia Hindu Samabesh has been organized in sync with the organizatiol meeting, Sarma said, and added: “The aims and objective of the karyakarta meeting is expanding Sangh activities by breaking new ground and boosting its cadres’ confidence in the region. In order to make the rally a success the Sangh is keeping in touch with 25,000 families and 15,000 of them will provide five packets of launch each.” Born in 1925 at the tiol level, RSS set its foot on Assam land in 1946. RSS’ Uttar Asom Pranth Prachar Pramukh Shankar Das said: “All branches of the Sangh have been working actively in Assam. We’ve many cadres who’re Islams by religion. They’re also going to take part in this grand rally in Guwahati.” RSS’ State worker Khagen Kalita also attended the press meet.
