Guwahati to host region's first-ever Futsal Festival

Guwahati, April 8: It has not been too long ago that futsal was introduced to the tion but it is certain that the sport enthusiasts are getting the right platform to showcase the skills. In another thriving move three football enthusiasts of the city came up with a platform where the futsal players of the north-eastern region can demonstrate their skills and also grab an opportunity to be trained by some of the leading lights of the sporting discipline. The trio of Kaustove Moni Kakoti, Kaustab Chakraborty and Lio Sengrang are introducing the first-ever futsal tourment under the banner of Guwahati Futsal Festival. To be held on 10th and 11th April at Bhogeshwari Phukani Indoor Stadium in Dispur, the event is expecting over 60 teams from all over North-east as registrations are already flowing in. The tourment will be played 5 vs 5 aside as per the rules of Futsal Association of India with prize money of Rs 50,000. Premier Futsal (functioning under its operating entity, Premier Futsal Magement Private Limited) is  the title sponsor for the tourment. Premier Futsal Magement (P) Limited, a futsal promotion start-up co-founded by 3 young Indian entrepreneurs Abhindan Balasubramanian, Dinesh Raj and Nithyashree Subban and backed by business magte Xavier Britto and his wife, philanthropist Vimala Britto is the world’s first entrepreneur-led sports league and is already amongst the biggest promoters of futsal globally. 
“There is a huge lack of grounds in Assam, let alone the city of Guwahati that clouds the talents of the much deserving players. Meanwhile, the festival also eyes towards promoting football and outdoor sports among the youth who these days seem to be glued to their mobile phones rather than being out there in the field and experience the true fun. Association of Youth Futsal Assam has provided immense support to materialize the event,” said Lio Sengrang, one of the organisers behind the initiative. 
He also added that the tourment will help in preparing a base of this game in Assam. “The tourment will also provide a platform to the players to take up futsal. Interested players can also register for Premier Futsal Launchpad on the premier futsal website using “GFF” code. Trails will take place in Delhi, Mumbai, Cheni, Kochi, Bengaluru and Kolkata, if the players are selected in trails they will get an opportunity to play along with legends like Roldinho, Ryan Giggs, Hern Crespo and several big mes,” Sengrang added.
Apart from futsaling extravaganza the event will also hold several skill-based competitions and one-on-one battle. Meanwhile, the theme song of the festival which is sung by Babanita Das along with the theme video has already hit several social media platforms. The event will be iugurated by Lakhya Konwar, member secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare in the presence of Kamala Kanta Singh and Durga Boro.
