Kartaka folk theatre on Assam stage

GUWAHATI, March13: Doddata, a folk theatre form of Kartaka, staged a play on the third day of the ongoing 8th Theatre Olympics at Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra on Tuesday. The play titled ‘Dakha Brahman Vadhe’ is the story of Daksh Brahma, the King of Dakshavati and a descendent of Lord Brahma.  Farmers in Kartaka performed Doddata in the farms and villages. Filled with joy, men and women sing and perform, along with the music played on their instruments. Moodal Pass (Bayalata) Doddata is also known as Moodal paya Doddata in Dhakad, Gadag, Bhelganth and Bijapur districts, MoodalpayaAttdata in Bidar and Gulbarga districts.
