Likes of Ajmal, Siddeque, Sherman using Muslims as political raw material: Aowal

GUWAHATI, August 23: The BJP Assam Pradesh and its Minority Cell have termed former minister Siddeque Ahmed’s statement – ‘democracy has been murdered at Hatimuria at Mayang’— as highly provocative.

In a statement issued to the press today, State BJP spokesperson Rupam Goswami and Assam BJP’s Minority Morcha president Mominul Aowal said: “Such a statement will only create divisions among the people of the State on the basis of religion. A correct NRC can protect all people in the State, regardless of their religions, languages and castes. Leaders like Siddeque Ahmed and Sherman Ali make such provocative statements only to subserve their political interests. Such acts do expose their behaviour. Such leaders keep their one leg in Assam and the other at Bangladesh.”

Aowal said: “Under the leadership of Sarbanda Sonowal the Muslims in Assam are under no harassment of any sorts. Rather, in Assam and in India, the Muslims are more secured than elsewhere in the world. There’re many countries where people belonging to Islamic faith are killed even when they are praying their nomaj. There’re no such instances in Assam and elsewhere in India. Leaders like Badruddin Ajmal, Siddeque Ahmed and Sherman Ali have all along been using the Muslims of Assam as raw materials of their political business.”
