Medanta doctor conducts evening clinic at Press Club

GUWAHATI, Feb 5: Innovative healthcare programme under the banner of ‘Evening with a Doctor’ at Guwahati Press Club in Northeast has completed six months, where the member-jourlists of the press club along with their dependants have been offered free consultation & primary treatments by experienced physicians from various healthcare institutions.

The evening clinic at the press club premises on February 4 was conducted by the Gurgaon (Harya) based Medanta-The Medicity Hospital. Senior rheumatology & clinical immunology consultant Dr Viy Singal was present for free consultations. Medanta’s marketing mager Manoranjan Kalita extended supports in organizing the camp, which witnessed over 25 participants.

The January 21 media clinic was carried out by ophthalmologists mely Dr S Tomar and Dr Pranjal Mishra from Sankaradeva Nethralaya Guwahati. Similarly the January 7 evening OPD was carried out by Hayat Hospital’s Dr Anjan Saikia (gastroenterology), Dr Daboo Patowari (medicine) and Dr Abhisek Lohia (dermatology).

The city based hospital authority also announced various concessions for the press club members with their families in OPD/doctor consultation charges (100 per cent),  room rent (25 %), lab investigation (20 %),  CT/USG/X-ray (20 %), MRI/MR angiography (20 %), EEG, ECG,TMT, HOLTER, ECHO (20 %), colonoscopy & endoscopy (20 %), operation theatre charges (10 %) and medicines (5 %). Till date, practicing doctors from Apollo Hospitals Cheni, raya Super-Specialty Hospitals, GNRC Group of Hospitals, Down Town Hospitals, Dispur Hospitals, Swagat Super-Surgical Institute, Wintrobe Hospital, Barthakur Clinic, Nemcare Hospital, Sun Valley Hospital, Sight First eye-clinic, Government Ayurvedic College etc had conducted the camps.

Dispur Hospitals, under the leadership of Dr Jayanta Bardoloi, supported the initiative to raise a doctor’s chamber at the press club premises, which was iugurated by young citizens mely Dhiman, Kristi, Shantava, Arya, Shambhavi, Nistha and Aruva on the occasion of 70th Independence Day.

“Besides persol healthcare, the initiative was expected to help the scribes to understand various aspects of healthiness in a better way that should encourage the jourlists to cover the sector with more authenticities,” said a GPC statement adding that the initiative was formulated primarily for the benefit of its members, but anyone related to the profession is welcome to participate in the programme.
