'Modi-bashing by Congress smacks of frustration'

GUWAHATI, August 5: Bold decisions like GST and demonetization granted Prime Minister rendra Modi high accolade from the intertiol community, but only criticism from the Congress. The BJP Assam Pradesh, however, reeks of frustration in the criticism from the Opposition party.
In a statement issued to the press on Saturday, State BJP spokesperson Promod Swami said: “US-India Business Council (USIBC) chairman John T Chambers lauded Modi for his bold decisions on demonetization and GST saying that ‘Indolent India is now moving fast’. India’s status under Modi as the Prime Minister has got a boost in the world. We should feel proud of it. However, the Congress only keeps on criticizing the Prime Minister. They don’t want to see what Modi’s doing for the country. They want to see the other way when the Prime Minister does something good.”
On the three-year rule of the BJP-led NDA Government at the Centre, Swami said: “During the UPA government corruption clouded the fate of the tion. However, in the past three-year NDA rule at the Centre there has been no corruption.”
On floods in Assam, Swami said: “Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who was an MP from Assam, did precious little to solve the perennial problem of floods in the State. However, in his recent visit to the State Modi called all the chief ministers of the region so as to make them determined to solve floods in the region once and for all. Besides stock taking of flood damage in the State, Modi held a high-level meeting so as to solve the mece. He wants to treat the problem with a human heart. Besides announcing Rs 100 crore for the study of the Brahmaputra, he’s announced Rs 250 crore for flood relief and Rs 2,000 crore for tackling floods in the Northeast.”
Meanwhile, State BJP president Ranjit Kumar Dass on Saturday issued a notice to party’s Tinsukia district vice president Dulal Chandra Ray asking him as to say as to why discipliry action should not taken against him for allegedly assaulting a woman physically on Friday at Amtali in the Borhabjan area. He was asked to reply the show-cause notice within seven days.
In yet another development, Dass has appointed Bijan Kumar Mahajan as the state spokesperson and Pabitra Margherita and Hemango Thakuria as TV pelists of the party.
