GUWAHATI, March 29: A 41-member Bodo-Kachari tiol Council has been formed today with Aditya Kahakhlari as the president and Sapun Boro as the general secretary at a tiol convention of Bodos and Kacharis outside BTAD. The council aims for socio-economic, cultural and academic development and securing political rights of eight lakh Bodos and Kacharis residing outside BTAD. It has appealed to the State Government and the Centre for granting Scheduled Tribe status to Bodos and Kacharis residing in Karbi Anglong and Dima Hasao districts. BNC president Aditya Kakhlari said that BNC has appealed to the State Government to address the four decade-old Bodoland demand and that talks should be initiated at the political level.
