As many as nine members of the AKDC said that they had moved the Vigilance and Anti-Corruption yesterday seeking an inquiry into, what they said, embezzlement of a huge amount of council funds for fiscals 2013-14 and 2014-15 by its chairman Indreswar Teron and vice chairman Ranumai Teronpi. “We demand an inquiry into Rs 14.20 crore of funds for fiscals 2013-14 and 214-15 of the AKDC embezzled by Teron, Terongpi and some other members,” the members said, and added: “To ascertain where and how the amount was spent, we came to know that Teronpi had withdrawn a huge amount of funds in the me of Amri Karbi Central Construction Committee. When the matter was brought to the notice of the chairman, he told us that he didn’t know of the matter.”

The aggrieved members further said that Rs 20 lakh had been released as member’s development funds for the development of local areas through the members. “Following a directive from the chairman, we started developmental works in our respective areas in fiscal 2013-14, but not a single penny was received as yet,” the members said.
