One of the most important such installations in the city is Guwahati Railway Station. Railway passengers and others keep the railway station crowded almost round the clock, and as such the casualty in the event of any disaster there, including sabotage, is likely to be the worst. Strangely enough, the luggage scanner machine at the Railway Station has been lying conked up for a long time. The Sentinel did bring the conked up scanner to the notice of those at the helm of affairs by publishing reports many times in the past, but to little avail. With the Republic Day celebrations ahead, this reporter feels it necessary to report it afresh so as to make those at the helm of affairs do the needful. Will they?
