Oil majors should have spent funds for flood relief: Saikia

GUWAHATI, July 18: Leader of Opposition in the Assam Assembly Debabrata Saikia told Union Petroleum and tural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in a letter that OIL and ONGC ought to have spent Rs. 50 crore on providing succour to the victims of Assam’s endemic floods, maintaining roads, promoting primary education, providing potable water in rural areas, and other social-welfare activities, a copy of the letter said.
