Party workers attacked, candidate threatened

GUWAHATI, March 19: A leader and a number of cadres of the tiol Road Map Party of India were attacked at their party office at Athgaon in the city by a group of miscreants last night. The miscreants, numbering around 17, beat up the party workers manning the office, including 66-year-old office in-charge Joil Abedin, besides ransacking the office. The State general secretary of the party and its candidate for Guwahati West LAC Javed Hussain Tanwar and his brother were threatened. The party filed a case at Bharalu police station in connection with the attack. A case (119/16) under section 147, 448, 279, 506, 427, 326, 307 and 171(F) has been registered. The party also sent a complaint to the Election Commission of India. The party leaders and cadres have been given police protection.
