People left in the lurch as pharmacies refuse 500-1000 notes

GUWAHATI, Nov 13: Even though government hospitals and pharmacies were exempted from the order banning 500-1000 denomition notes till November 14, many pharmacies in the city as well as at other parts of the State, allegedly refused to accept Rs.500-1000 notes.  Many people reportedly had to return from pharmacies without availing medicines.  Many residents alleged that they couldn’t get medicines as the pharmacy owners asked them to either bring 100-denomition notes or deposit Rs 500/1000 with them. When contacted, Kamrup (M) in-charge DC Barli Sarma that administration will take action against the pharmacies who refused to accept Rs.500-1000 notes if written complaint is filed against such pharmacies.

People from other districts can file complaint to the respective DCs.
