GUWAHATI, Oct 18: It is a quantum leap for State Government in decentralization of power that it has made implementation of PMAY-G/IAY a block-level affair. Such schemes were implemented at the district-level earlier. P&RD Commissioner JB Ekka issued an order on October 16, 2017 asking the principal secretary of autonomous councils, all deputy commissioners and all DRDA project directors to change the sigtories of PMAY-G/IAY from district-level to block-level i.e. to FTOs in connection with disbursement of funds to deserving beneficiaries. Ekka asked DRDAs to monitor the construction and progress of houses, timely payment, quality control and enforcement or rules etc. The selection of beneficiaries under the schemes is to be done by GP secretaries with assistance from GP coorditors.
