Police get further custody of Anil Chouhan

Guwahati, April 23: A local court today extended the police custody of notorious car lifter Anil Chouhan.

Chouhan was produced before the Chief Judicial Magistrate today. Fatasil Ambari police sought seven days custody of the crimil while Gorchuk police sought five days custody.

However, the court gave four days custody, to be shared between the two police stations.

The court directed the police to produce Chouhan again on Monday

Till today, Chouhan was in custody of Basistha police.

Several car theft cases are being investigated by the police stations in Guwahati, and in many of them, Chouhan is suspected to be the kingpin.

Meanwhile, central jail authorities today submitted before the court the medical report of MLA Rumi th, who is now judicial custody.

Official sources said that the medical report points to no major ailment. But, the legislator is stated to be expecting.

Earlier, rumours were spread that the Barkhola legislator, arrested on charges of having links with Anil Chouhan, was suffering from brain tumor.

Her estranged husband Jakie Jakir has also moved a bail petition at the Gauhati High Court. The court has asked police to submit his case diary.
