Process on to appoint thousands of teachers

GUWAHATI, Dec 18: State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that 11,000 primary teachers will be appointed by January, 2017.

The minister said this at a function at the Directorate of Secondary Education in the city organized for distribution of appointment letters for teachers. He also said: “In the next phases 27,000 new teachers will be given appointment. We’re keeping in touch with the Centre for the relaxation of educatiol qualification of the candidates in this connection. This apart, in the next two months 1,287 Hindi, Sanskrit and Arabic teachers will be appointed. Within the next month 229 posts of lecturers lying vacant in colleges will be filled up, besides appointing permanent principals in 700 HS schools being run under in-charge principals before the Magh Bihu. The department is going to hold a quality festival (gutsav) in March that will cover the 48,000 primary schools and their all aspects.” Today a total of 44 PG teachers; and 29 Hindi, Sanskrit and Arabic teachers were given appointment letters.
