GUWAHATI, March 24: A protest was staged in front of the office of the Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Assam by the Sodou Asom Ban Bibhag Casual Shramik Santha today in support of their demand for the clearance of dues of the casual employees whose mes were deleted from the list of fixed-pay employees.

Hemanta Kumar Das, secretary of the Santha, said, "The mes of 1,425 casual employees, who were left out from the fixed-pay employees's list of Assam Forest Department issued before 1993, have not been approved by the department as yet. The employees have been facing acute cash crunch."

"Though the Chief Conservator sent a proposal to the State Forest Minister to regularize all the 1,425 left out employees so that they get their wages, it has not been approved till now. All the employees are suffering from cash crunch," said Das.

The Santha said that it would go for a vigorous agitation if its demand was not met soon.
