Puja traffic plan in force in city

GUWAHATI, Sept 25: In order to make people or puja goers not stuck in traffic srls, the City Police are going to put in place a traffic plan in Guwahati with effect from Tuesday.
Talking to newsmen in the city on Monday, Guwahati Deputy Commissioner of Police (traffic) Amanjit Kaur said: “To ensure safety of public some restrictions on the movement of vehicles shall be imposed during the period of Durga Puja in Guwahati City area.”
“Goods-carrying vehicles (heavy, medium and mini trucks) shall not be allowed to enter the city from 1pm to 4 am from Jalukbari, Garchuk, Lokhara, Beltola, Hatigaon and Chandmari side. Goods-carrying heavy trucks will be allowed to enter the city from 4 am onwards, subject to no obstruction on the road due to puja up to 7 am in the morning,” Kaur said, and added: “Under Dispur police station Dr. RP Road will be one way only from Ganesh Mandir side. There will be no entry for vehicles coming from Zoo Road side to Ganesh Mandir. Vehicles are to move via Service Road, GS Road and Supermarket Point. No entry on service road from Wholesale market side to Ganeshguri. Light motor vehicles coming from the Assam Secretariat may take Wholesale Market Road towards Ganesh Mandir (one-way).”
Under Paltan Bazar PS area, Kaur said: “No entry on AK Azad Road from Nepali Mandir side towards Sarabbhati. Entry is open from Sarabbhati only. Under Panbazar PS area, no entry on MS Road from the Sani Mandir side. Entry is open from Railway Gate No 4 only. There’s no entry on Dr. JC Das Road from Khubchand Point. Entry is open from Tribeni Sweets only (JC Das Road — Danish Road). Under Jalukbari PS area, there is no entry from Maligaon Chariali to Pandu. Entry is open from Adabari Tiniali only. There’s no entry of vehicles on P.N.G.B. Road between Maligaon Chariali and Kamakhya Railway Station level crossing. All vehicles from Kamakhya Railway Station and Gotagar area shall be allowed to move through Railway Gate No. 3 and Railway Headquarters.”
Under Bharalumukh PS area, Kaur said: “There’s no entry towards RK Choudhury Road and SC Road from Kumarpara Pachali, Fatasil Ambari. Parking of vehicles shall not be allowed on AT Road (Athgaon flyover to Bharalumukh) and Dinesh Goswami Road (between Bharalumukh and Shantipur).”
Under Basistha PS area, Kaur said: “There’s no entry on Beltola-Joyagar Road from Joyagar Chariali to Beltola Chariali. Joyagar-Beltola Chariali Road shall be one way from Beltola Chariali side.  There’re no entries of vehicles from Bhetapara Chariali towards Beltola Chariali and on Dr. B.N. Saikia Road from Beltola Chariali up to AG Office bye-lane. AG office bye-lane will be one way from the AG office side. No vehicles will be allowed to enter from Beltola Joyagar side. Parking of vehicles shall be allowed between Joyagar and Khapara on Beltola-Khapara Road.”
Under Chandmari PS/Geetagar PS, Kaur said: “No vehicles shall be allowed to enter from Anuradha Point to Hatigarh Chariali. Vehicles will be allowed to enter from Hatigarh Chariali only.”
Kaur said: “The city buses from Basistha Mandir to ISBT via Zoo Road, from Basistha temple shall move up to Basistha Chariali and take right turn via NH 37. From Tripura Goli point, the buses shall move via Joyagar-Sixmile Road and from Sixmile onwards move via Express Highway and Mother Teresa Road (Zoo rengi Road) towards their destitions. The city buses from ISBT to Basistha Mandir via Zoo Road shall move via Supermarket, Sixmile and Khapara rotary towards their destitions. City buses from Panjabari to Ayurvedic College via Zoo Road shall move via Sixmile, Express Highway, rengi Tiniali and Mother Teresa Road towards destitions. City buses from Adabari to ISBT via Fatasil, Dhirenpara shall move via Paltanbazar-Ulubari- B.K. Kakoti Road and Chabipool towards destition. The city buses from Adabari to ISBT via Jyotikuchi, Lokhara shall move via Paltanbazar, Ulubari, B.K. Kakoti Road, Sarabbhati and Birubari Tiniail towards destition. The city buses from Byrnihat to Adabari via Zoo Road shall move via Sixmile, Express Highway, rengi Tiniali, Mother Teresa Road and Zoo rengi Tiniali towards destition. City buses from ISBT to ISBT via Beltola, Paltanbazar and Jalukbari shall move via Basistha Chariali and move up to Sixmile via Tripura Goli-Joyagar — Sixmile Road towards the destition. City buses from Adabari to ISBT via Zoo Road shall move via Sixmile, Khapara rotary towards the destition. City buses from ISBT to Adabari via Beltola, Paltanbazar shall move via Basistha Chariali and move up to Sixmile via Tripura Goli-Joyagara-Sixmile Road towards destition. The city buses from Adabari to ISBT via Paltanbazar shall move via Supermarket, Sixmile and Khapara rotary towards destition. City buses from Adabari to Adabari via Gotagar shall move from Kamakhya Railway Station via Railway headquarters and DG Road towards destition. All city buses coming from Bhangagarh shall be regulated at Bharalu bridge on G.S. Road and diverted via ASEB Road and B.K. Kakooti Road towards destition.”
Light commercial passenger vehicles, particularly, having all Assam tourist permit coming from Lower Assam side will be termited at Adahari bus terminus during the days of the puja. Similarly, vehicles coming from Upper Assani side will be allowed to come up to the ISBT, she said, and added that all other light passenger vehicles plying within and outskirts of the City would be restricted and directed as per the traffic situation. 
Trekkers or tempos coming from Lokhara to Nepali Mandir will be termited at Sarabbhati; from there these vehicles will go back to Lalganesh, Lokhara via Chabipul — Bishnupur — ITI Road — Cycle Factory, she said and added that there are restrictions on slow moving vehicles in the city.
“All the traffic I/Cs shall liaise with the puja committees for making necessary arrangements for parking of vehicles near pandels subject to availability of parking space. Road-side parking shall be strictly prohibited on the MG Road, B. Baruah Road, GNB Road, Tayabullah Road and on the stretch of GS Road from Lachitgar Point to Jata Hotel Point,” she said.
