Put AISF appointment on hold: SPOWS

By our Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, Jan 8: The Special Police Officers’ Welfare Society (SPOWS) has raised the demand for putting on hold the process for recruitment of 145 posts in the Assam Industrial Security Force (AISF).
The special police officers took out a protest procession in Guwahati on Monday in support of their various demands. In a statement issued to the press on Monday, SPOWS president Dilip Saikia and secretary Mrityunjan Bora said: “SPOs who were appointed in 2008 have all along been demanding regularization of their jobs since 2011. The State Government, from time to time, did assure us of being absorbed in the Third AISF Battalion to be floated. However, the government deceived us. Now the government has sought applications for only 145 posts in the AISF. We’ve also seen some anomalies in the advertisement for the filling up the posts. Candidates who have experience to have worked as SPOs have to attach their appointment letters along with the application forms. However, it is seen that there are candidates who have no previous experience as SPOs are also submitting their application forms against the posts. Smelling something fishy, we’ve raised the demand for putting on hold the appointment process.”
The statement further said that Dispur should withdraw all cases slapped on some SPOs by the previous government.
