Rains disrupt normal life

GUWAHATI, April 19: The first gush of rains of Bohag this morning and afternoon till evening disrupted normal life in the city. Low-lying areas in the city like RG Baruah Road, Rajgarh Road, Zoo Tiniali, Lachit gar and Ulubari were inundated. Two-wheeler riders had a harrowing time. Some of the Bihu function sites in the city were submerged by rain water. Organizers of Bihu sanmilanis at Geetagar, Hengrabari, New-Guwahati etc., were having a tough time to dry up the sites before evening. Famous artistes are scheduled to perform tonight. However, organizers are of the view that Bihu lovers often defy inclement weather.
