Sankardev Sangha observes child welfare day

GUWAHATI, August 27:  A daylong child welfare programme was observed at Panjabari by Srimanta Sankardev Sangha today. Held under the aegis of the Child and Women Welfare Organization, the programme was hosted by the Rajdhani and Rukminigaon branches of the organization. Like previous years, the programme kicked off with vaishvite rituals of offering prayers, followed by drawing, ghosa { Vaihvite scriptures} recital and extempore speech competitions among children below 12 years of age, open talk and discussion among the dignitaries, and the prize distribution ceremony. The steps which could be taken for child welfare and propagation of knowledge of vaihvite erudite among children found importance in the discussion. This apart, youth and women festivals will be organized by Srimanta Sankardev Sangha on September 11 and 12.
