State BJP EC to brainstorm on issues

By our Staff Reporter
GUWAHATI, July 15: Having earned mixed messages from the people of the State in over one year in power at Dispur, the BJP Assam Pradesh is going to brainstorm at its executive committee meeting at Duliajan from July 22.
The BJP-led coalition government in Assam has received mixed messages from the people of the State. While a section of people in the State is happy with the tough stand taken by the State Government against corruption, some people are aggrieved at some burning problems which the State Government has not been able to solve as yet. The issue of ST status to six ethnic groups in the State has also taken a new twist with the government has not been able to solve the matter for once and for all. The fight against corruption by the party-led government in the State has also suffered a setback as many parties and organizations in the State question the government on the selection of former KAAC CEM Tuliram Ronghang as KAAC CEM afresh.
This executive committee meeting of the BJP is very crucial as amidst such mixed messages from the people of the State the party has to face the panchayat poll in 2018 and the Lok Sabha poll in 2019.
The meeting is crucial as the party is going to deliberate on a land policy in the State to provide land rights and land pattas to the indigenous people of the State. This apart, floods and erosion, rehabilitation of flood-affected people, addressing problems being faced by farmers in the State, to ensure right prices of farmers’ produce and to meet the post-GST situation in the State are likely to come up for discussion at the meeting.
While the officer-bearers meeting will be held on July 22, the executive committee will meet on July 23. Apart from central representatives of the party, the meeting will also be attended by the party’s Northeast organizatiol secretary Ajay Jamwal.
Meanwhile, tiol BJP president Amit Shah is set to visit Assam on August 8, 9 and 10, 2017 to oversee organizatiol aspect of the party in the State.
