Sui-ka-pha Day observed

GUWAHATI, Dec 2: Sui-ka-pha Divas, also known as Axom Divas, was observed by the Sui-ka-pha Bhawan Nirman Samity (SBNS) at Sui-ka-pha Bhawan at Joyagar in the city today.

The daylong proggramme started with a cleanliness drive, followed by flag hoisting along with a tribute-paying ceremony on Sui-ka-pha’s portrait and on his ‘Maidam’.

Drawing competitions and game and sports were held among school students. Mangaldoi College’s History professor Sangeeta Gogoi delivered a speech on Sui-ka-phaa’s contribution towards the development of greater Assamese identity.

Towards the evening, SBNS president Tarun Phukan took part in lighting of the ceremonial lamp. It was followed by a cultural evening by Sui-ka-pha Kala-Kristi Kendra Sangeet Vidyalaya and prize distribution on the occasion.
