GUWAHATI, July 15: Former Kamalpur MLA and Congress leader Uttara Kalita passed away at a private nursing home in Guwahati on Saturday. She was 69. The two-time MLA from Kamalpur was the widow of Late Congress leader Benu Kalita. Former Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, MP Bhubaneswar Kalita and APCC president Ripun Bora condoled the death of the former legislator. Bora said that Assam lost an active social worker in the death of Kalita who had worked for women emancipation in the State. “Her ideology will inspire others in the State,” he said. Kamalpur MLA Satyabrata Kalita also condoled the death of Uttara Kalita.
