Xofura scholarships distributed

GUWAHATI, Feb 7: The Xofura, an Assam Book Hive, distributed its scholarships to the students of the state at the Centre for Studies in Humanities of Cotton College, Guwahati today. The students who qualified the Xofura scholarship tests in 2015 were felicitated at the function. The programme was presided over by Xofura secretary Rupam Baruah. Students from various schools received the award money and certificates for their performance in the tests. Baruah said: “The Xofura student of the year award was given to Kabyanil Talukdar for his performance. The award for best schools went to Sankardev Sishu Niketan of Borpathar, Jatiya Vidyalaya of Titabor and Chilaray Jatiya Vidyalaya of North Salmara. The best centre coorditor award was given to Lakhith Borah of Chilapathar centre, Mahendra Chandra Sarma of Mongoldoi and Mukul Kalita of Rangia. The best three students in every age group were given Rs 10,000, Rs 7,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively.” “The chief guest at the programme Arup Kumar Mishra distributed the awards to the children on behalf of the organizer. The programme was attended and participated by Sudakshi Sarma, Cotton College professor Jagadish Patgiri, former professor of Gauhati University Irshad Ali, additiol secretary of the State Education Department Dharani Dhar goswami, senior jourlist Prakash Mahanta, Khagen Kalita and others,” Baruah said.
