Youths vandalize city bar

GUWAHATI, June 20: There is yet another allegation of Cottonians being involved in a fracas at the bar of Prashanti Tourist Lodge near the RBI office at Panbazar in the city last night.
According to sources, a few youths demanded more beer after having some bottles when the closing time of the bar was over. This led to an altercation of the youths with the bar staff, leading the youths going berserk and vandalism.
Cotton union body general secretary Jintu Thakuria said: “We never support any such activities. If any Cottonian is involved in the fracas, he will be punished.”
Meanwhile, State Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said: “Students involved in such fracas should be rusticated, or suspended at least for a month so as to let their guardians know.”
