Woe betide Forest department

We have noticed how some unscrupulous Government officials have duped the government to enrich their own personal coffers over the years. We have also found that the Cabinet Ministers allotted the Forest portfolio miserably failed to save the department from such corrupt officers in the last seven years, both during the Congress and the BJP’s regimes. We could remember how a former Forest Minister Pramila Rani Brahma helplessly expressed her inability to bring under control the unlawful activities, so is case with the present incumbent Parimol Shukla Vaidya. We have also noticed how our Forest department could add a feather to its glorious cap by securing the first position in deforestation in India for successive years. There is no end to the tale of ignominy of the department. A rat race has always been there among most of the officials to dupe the department. Among them, the honest ones have a tough time. This is the department where mafia raj rules supreme. Any attempt to thwart mafia raj would be counter-productive. Forest decimation, corruption and mafia are so deeply rooted in the Forest department that even a fully empowered crusader would be able to do pretty little to bring under control these three interlinked evil forces.
