CIMON, The First AI Robot To Go On Space

CIMON is an autonomous flying robot with artificial intelligence. This is a new member of The International Space Station. CIMON stands for Crew Interactive Mobile Companion, and it’s the 1^st AI robot to go to space. This member’s name is pronounced as Simon.

It was launched towards the ISS with SpaceX’s Dragon capsule on June 29 and reached at the station three days after it was launched from Cape Canaveral, Florida. It’s also called a “Flying Brain”. This slightly odd-looking CIMON looks like a flying volleyball with a cartoon-like face. It’s also roughly the same size as a volleyball, though it weighs five kgs. CIMON can see and talk with people, and since its built-in AI means, it will keep getting smarter and will learn to go on as it interacts with crew members. It is also provided with facial recognition software, which enables it to recognize who it’s talking to.
