Heal through Yoga, The Natural Way

Look around the world, and you will realize that Yoga is everywhere. A form of physical exercise based on ‘Asanas,’ Yoga promotes improved control of mind and body and to enhance the well-being of the both. Originated in ancient India, the word Yoga is derived from the Sanskrit root ‘Yuj’ meaning ‘to yoke or join together.’

The key goal of Yoga is to attain ‘Moksha’ (liberation). Yoga helps us to realize the divine within us. It is not a religion, but the source of spirituality and wisdom, which is considered as the root of all the religions around the world. It aims towards ‘a healthy mind in a healthy body.’ After a Yoga session, the mind and the body feels energized and rejuvenated; thus bestowing the self to control the mind and the body.

Many different types of Yoga exist. To name a few are:

Hatha Yoga

Vinyasa Yoga

Power Yoga

Bikram Yoga

Sivananda Yoga

Kundalini Yoga

No matter what type of Yoga style you choose to perform, the ultimate aim is to attain the peace. Few of the benefits of Yoga are:

Improves the Immunity system

Yoga provides us with all-around fitness; improves health, gives mental strength, protects from injury, and improves our physical strength.

International Day of Yoga is celebrated on June 21 every year since 2015. This idea was first proposed by our Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He also suggested celebrating this day on June 21 as it the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere.

On 4th International Yoga Day, PM Narendra Modi participated in the national event at Dehradun's Forest Research Institute. He highlighted the importance of yoga, saying, "Yoga has the perfect solution to the problems we face, either as individuals or in society. Yoga is beautiful because it is ancient yet modern."

Assam also celebrated this day with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal leading the celebration. He participated in the Yoga Day programme organized at the Nurul Amin Stadium in Nagaon. Speaking of the issue, he requested the people of Assam to use Yoga as a strong medium to remove the superstitious beliefs from the state.
