New Delhi: MG motor has launched its new car in its SUV segment known as MG Astor. The car was launched on October 11, 2021 with the introductory prices ranging from Rs 9.78 lakh to Rs 16.78 lakh (ex-showroom).

According to MG Motor India Chief Rajeev Chabha, the prices of the car would be applicable to only those buyers, who buy the Astor in 2021 and in 2022, the prices will be revised.

The MG Motors have confirmed that it is targeting to roll out at least 5000 units of the Astor before the ending of this year. The company has launched four trims of this SUV, Style, Super, Smart and Sharp:

Style VTi-Tech MT: Rs 9.78 Lakh

Super VTi-Tech MT: Rs 11.28 Lakh

Super VTi-Tech CVT: Rs 12.68 Lakh

Smart VTi-Tech MT: Rs 12.98 Lakh

Smart VTi-Tech CVT: Rs 14.18 Lakh

Smart 220Turbo AT: Rs 15.88 Lakh

Sharp Smart VTi-Tech MT: Rs 13.98 Lakh

Sharp VTi-Tech CVT: 14.98 Lakh

Sharp 220Turbo AT: Rs 16.78 Lakh.

In India, the MG Astor will compete with Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, and Volkswagen Taigun.

MG Astor has only petrol option with two engine variants of a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine and a 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine unit. The car generates 110hp and 144Nm of torque, compare to latter which produces 140bhp and 210Nm of torque.

The 1.5-litre variant comes with 8 speed CVT consisting manual transmission and, while on the other hand, the 1.3-litre variant comes with 6-speed automatic transmission.

Coming to the design of this SUV, the car has got a sporty design, which is similar to its electric vehicle MG ZS EV. However, some changes can easily attract buyers' attention. The car has got a new front end with a hexagonal 'Celestial' grille with honeycomb design.

The car also comes with fog and LED projector-headlamps with Daytime Running Lights (DRL). The MG Astor has 17-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and faux dual exhaust.

In this car, thre MG Motors have introduced a new feature like Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Level-2, which comes with much protection. The company has also installed AI Personal Assistant in the new car. It is equipped with plenty of features like navigation, select in-car controls, critical in-car warning. Apart from these, for connectivity a 10.1-inch touch screen infotainment system with Jio e-SIM has been provided in MG Astor.

The Car has three steering mode like normal, urban and dynamic.
