Gwalior: A police officer who went missing around 15 years ago was accidentally found on the footpath of Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh by two of his colleagues.

Earlier this week, the missing colleague was found by his fellow comrades in a dishevelled state. He is suffering from mental derangement.

Deputy Superintendents of Police Ratnesh Singh Tomar and Vijay Singh Bahadur were driving along a marriage hall in Gwalior on Tuesday night when they spotted a man who looked like a beggar.

He was searching for left-over food in the garbage dump and was badly shivering in cold. The two officers felt bad and got down of their car to give a warm jacket to the man who was shivering.

Both Tomar and Bahadur were shocked when the man called them by their first names. Only then they realised that the man was none other than their former colleague Manish Mishra, who went missing in the year 2005. Back then, Mishra was posted in Datia, Madhya Pradesh as an inspector.

All of these years no one was aware of the whereabouts of Mishra. Tomar and Bahadur took him to a non-governmental organisation (NGO), where he will stay for some time till further arrangements are made.

Tomar, who is presently the DSP of Gwalior Crime Branch said, "Mishra was a good athlete and sharp-shooter who joined the police force along with us in 1999. He began to suffer from mental issues after some years. His family got him treated, but one day he went missing."

The DSP also added that they will try their best to get the best treatment for their friend, Mishra so that he becomes his normal self again.

It is truly said – 'Friends in need are a friend indeed.'
