JAIPUR: A rare scene was witnessed in the Sariska jungles in Rajasthan, when a leopard and hyena, considered arch-rivals, were seen sharing a kill in a dense forest area. The pictures captured by trap cameras at Sariska Tiger Project, showed both animals enjoying the kill without a fight.

Conservator of Forest in Sariska in Alwar, R.L. Meena said the panthera species is generally not known for sharing its food with anyone. They enjoy it on a tree branches especially to ward of any kind of stake-claim.

"Such a rare scene of a panther sharing food with another wild animal is quite rare. In fact, I am also watching this scene for the first time in my last 24 years of working. Panther mostly takes his food earned by hunting to tree tops to ensure he never shares it with anyone," he added. (IANS)
