Assam CM's Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami visits Visva Bharati

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister's Media Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami on Monday visited the Assamese Department of Visva Bharat University at Bolpur in West Bengal and interacted with the students, stated a press release.

Media Advisor Goswami also talked to the Principal of the Institute of Languages, Culture and Literature 'Bhasha Bhavana' Prof. Narottam Senapati and in-charge of the Assamese Department, Assistant Professor Sangeeta Saikia on several aspects of the department.

On interacting with the students of the Assamese Department, Media Advisor Goswami while reiterating the deep-rooted socio-cultural and linguistic relationship between Assam and West Bengal, said that the present State government has been taking several steps for strengthening this bond even further. He also asked the students to be ambassadors of these long and deep-rooted relations between the two neighbouring states.

Referring to installation and unveiling a statue of Sahityarathi Lakshminath Bezbaruah in Assam Bhawan at Russel Street, Kolkata on Sunday, Goswami said that this eminent litterateur had strengthened the relationship of Assam with that of West Bengal and Odisha with his literary genius. He also urged upon the student community in Visva Bharati especially of the Assamese Department to take responsibility and be ambassadors of spreading this message of socio-cultural and linguistic relations of Assam with other states.

On the other hand, while discussing issues with Prof. Narattom Senapati, the Media Advisor laid emphasis on spreading the use of the Assamese language through Assamese Department in Visva Bharat. He assured all cooperation from the Assam Government in this regard. The conversation also featured several aspects associated with the Assamese Department in the university. He also requested in-charge of the Assamese Department Sangeeta Saikia to make the department more vibrant in Visva Bharat.
