CBI Case against Eight Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Employees on Bribery charges

CBI Case against Eight Hindustan Aeronautics Limited Employees on Bribery charges

In a latest step taken by CBI, eight employees of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) are charged with bribery and a fresh case has been registered by the CBI against them. Irrespective of the merit the HAL employees possess, they will now have to face the legal charges.

However, this fresh charge on the HAL employees came just a few days later when the Congress president Rahul Gandhi had visited HAL to make a speech addressing its staff at a public function.

This new case came immediately after the fresh joining of the 1986-batch Odisha cadre IPS officer M. Nageshwar Rao as the new CBI director. The top investigative agency did not waste much time in charging the eight employees of the Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) with cheating the company of Rs 5 crore.

The latest upheavals taking place inside the CBI has already kept the whole department upside down as traces of political influences can also be smelled in the entire turmoil. At a time when the chief of the investigating agency only can be found corrupt and losing his power along with other top officials being transferred to several other parts of the country, how can one not smell fishy in the whole thing!

Now the case against HAL employees, irrespective of its merit, also has chances of having political connotations as well. With Rahul Gandhi being on target of the BJP government for him being an acute critic of the government and his visit to HAL may have interlinks to finally find the case taking a different turn. Gandhi has mostly been found accusing the Union government of cronyism for cancelling the original Rafale deal in which HAL was supposed to be the offset partner for the French defence sector giant, Dassault Aviation.
