Guwahati: Amid the ongoing pandemic scenario, the story of a doctor in Telangana who came forward and transported the body of a COVID-19 victim to the crematorium has now come to the limelight.
It has been reported that soon after a 45-year-old man died from Covid-19 at the local hospital, the municipal laborers provided a tractor to carry the body as the small facility does not have an ambulance or a mortuary. However, the tractor driver refused to drive, fearing he would contract the virus.
When Dr. Pendyala Sriram heard about the incident, he stepped up and took the charge of transporting the patient's mortal remains himself.
As per reports, the 45-year-old patient first tested positive with COVID-19 on June 10 and was admitted at the government hospital in Peddapalli after his condition became serious. He died on July 12.
