New Delhi: The government is all set to clear a Bill that would allow companies with not less than 300 workers to hire and fire without prior government approval. A move that is going to see stiff opposition from the trade unions and the workers too.

The proposal is part of the Industrial Relation Code Bill 2020. The Bill has been introduced in Lok Sabha on Saturday by the Labour ministry. The Narendra Modi-led BJP Government has the majority in the lower house required to clear any Bill.

The proposal has been a point of major disagreement between the trade unions and the government.

Currently, only those industrial establishments with less than 100 employees are permitted to hire and fire their staff without permission of the government.
