Man who went missing in Uttarakhand floods is reunited with family after six years

Jameel Ahmed Ansari who went missing six years ago during Uttarakhand floods was reunited with his family.

He was traced by Uttarakhand police who found him in an old age home at Gopeshwar in Chamoli district. He had been living for the past two years as he had no money to return home, according to media reports.

Under ''Operation Smile'' Uttarakhand police traces those who went missing during the deadly floods that devastated the region many years ago.

"I had no money to return. I was a construction worker when the floods came. I stayed at an old age home for two-three years. I am happy to be reunited with my family. I will not go anywhere else now," Ansari said.

He was identified by his nephew after his picture was put up on social media.

His wife Mobin Ansari said, "I searched for him everywhere. He went missing during Uttarakhand floods. The police received his photo and we received information from one of our relatives. We have already spent so much money in trying to trace him," Mobin Ansari said.
