Hyderabad: Incessant rains have created much havoc in Hyderabad. On the second consecutive day of heavy rainfall, a boundary wall collapsed and fell on ten houses. A total of 9 people, out of which three were children lost their lives due to this sudden collapse of the compound wall.

The incident, which took place in Mohammedia Hills, Bandlaguda also left four people severely injured. The bodies of the deceased were recovered from the debris. The teams of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF)were brought to help the GHMC teams to locate any survivors in the area where the incident took place.

M A Majeed, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, Falaknuma, said that the incident occurred around 11 pm on Tuesday. Huge granite blocks of the boundary wall fell on the houses, said the official. Five of the victims were from the same family, while the other four belonged to different families. The official further said that two houses were damaged badly.

AIMIM President and Hyderabad Lok Sabha MP, Asaduddin Owaisi reached the incident spot and shared information about the incident on Twitter.

In another area, Mallapur of Hyderabad, a man identified as Phani Kumar was electrocuted to death.

Due to the heavy downpour, various roads in busy areas of the city have been flooded with rainwater. A few of the areas are Himayat Nagar, Basheerbagh, Nampally, Lakdi Ka Pul, Mehdipatnam, Toli Chowki, Gachibowli, Jubilee Hills and Banjara Hills. Some residents of these areas were also evacuated overnight. The concerned authorities have asked the people of Hyderabad to stay indoors due to heavy rainfall.
