Heroin valued at Rs 1.5 crore seized at Birubari in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: The Special Operation Group (SOG) under the Central Police District has seized 599 gm heroin valued at around Rs 1.5 crore from a shop at Birubari here on Saturday night.

The shop's (RCM) owner, Arun Yadav, a resident of Gopinath Nagar, has been arrested in this regard.

According to a police source, Yadav took the SOG team to Dakhingaon on the pretext of showing stored drug consignments and tried to escape. He was shot at during his escape attempt and has been admitted to the GMCH (Gauhati Medical College and Hospital). Two more persons have been arrested in this connection — Sanchal Nath and Riman Sarma from the Lachit Nagar area. The police have seized a scooter and recovered Rs 3,000 cash from their possession.

A case has been registered at the Paltan Bazar Police Station — (598/21) u/s 22(c) 27/28/29 of NDPS Act.
